The baby kits we take include a receiving blanket; diaper, t-shirt, washcloth, and skin care products. We have also included a brush or comb, infant toothbrush, and plastic canvas crosses. These kits help the health care workers in their effort to immunize infants in surrounding villages. The mothers will receive a baby kit if they bring the babies in for care. The fabric used for the clothing has been found at Wal-Mart on the dollar rack. A soft t-shirt knit will make a blanket and shirt. The diapers are made of flannel. The items needed for these kits are the small bottles of baby skin care, including baby wash, baby oil, baby powder, and baby shampoo. We have purchased large quantities of these products and filled our own bottles. Anyone having empty 2 oz or 4 oz bottles, we can use! We have a few side projects for the trip in 2007. We have been exposed to such extreme poverty; the children do not have shorts or underwear. This includes children up to 10 or 12 years old. We are asking for donations of sneakers, shorts, and underwear. These items will be taken to the village we work in. The local pastor will be able to distribute these items to the children. The items do not have to be new. The cost of transporting the items is $100.00 for 70 pounds of goods. A small monetary donation with the items would be greatly appreciated.
